OBITUARY: John F. Auld and Mary Auld ¹

BOTH DIED IN ONE DAY
“Lovely and beautiful in their lives, in death they were not divided”
Died, on the 28th of August 1859, John F. Auld and Mary Auld, (Mary Jackson).  They were born in Anson county, N.C. Father Auld was born 1788, Mother Auld, 1791. They married in Anson County, moved to Alabama, thence to Union parish, Louisiana, where they departed this life full assurance of a blessed immortality. At an early age they professed religion and joined the M. E. Church, of which they lived consistent members till death.  It may be said of them, "they were one." Together they lived - together they died. As they had borne the burden and heat of the day of life together, they desired and prayed to be released at the same time. God granted them their desire. One did not know that the other's spirit had departed. Together their spirits ascended, and now rest in the bosom of their Redeemer. D. P. Cullin.

John Field Auld was the son of Michael Auld (WB #1, page 61-64);² his wife Mary Jackson was the daughter of Nancy Kendricks Jackson.³
