Effica Howell Purvis died about August 1835. She was the widow of Gilbert Purvis, Sr. Her son, James P. J. Purvis was the executor of her estate. The estate sale took place on 5 Aug 1835 and a true bill was returned on 28 September 1835. James P. J. died very suddenly at a very young age and his widow Elizabeth Rose Campbell Purvis Miller settled the estate.
