The Marriages and Death of Eve Caroline Dry

Eve Caroline Dry was born 22 May 1844, a daughter of George M. Dry and Mary ‘Polly’ Sides, Her birth and baptism is recorded in the minutes of the Dutch Buffalo Creek Meeting House: 1745-1806. ¹ 

At age 19, Eve Caroline married James Hall on 7 February 1864 in Stanly County, North Carolina.
In 1880, Eve Caroline and James can be found in the Census living in  Eldorado, Montgomery County, North Carolina.  There are 5 children in the household; 2 sons and 3 daughters.

On 20 December 1898 Eve Caroline, a widow, married Archie A.  Adcock in Gaston County, North Carolina. Her husband Archie Adcock dies in Sept 1907.

Then all trace of Eve was lost until I started researching her children. In 1910, Eve Caroline is listed as  E. Coroline Adcock and living in Gaston County with daughters Beulah and Dora, both married, in the household.  I haven’t found her in 1920 but in 1930 she is with daughter Emma Meacham, living in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

Eve Caroline died on 7 December 1932 at the age of 89 years, 6 months and 17 days. Her NC death certificate shows her death was the result of  “Shock from the fracture of both hips through accidental fall on floor.”



She is buried in Edgewood Cemetery, Lowell, Gaston County, North Carolina with her second husband, Archie A. Adcock.

Eve Caroline Dry Hall Adcock is my 1st Cousin 4 times removed.
