Stella Deese was born 11 March 1895, a daughter of Henry Harrison Deese, Sr. and his wife Nellie Isabella Huneycutt. She was their 9th child; she had two older sisters, the rest were brothers.
At age 21, Stella married Abraham Lincoln Key, age 22 on 11 March 1916 in Davidson County, North Carolina. I would love to hear the story of how they met.
To this union were born four children 3 sons and a daughter. Large gaps in the age of these children suggest there were children lost at birth or in infancy.
Census records show that Abraham worked in the Cotton Mills as a “Speeder Hand”. Stella remained home taking care of the children.
Sadly, Abraham L. Key died of a heart attack at the young age of 54 on 24 September 1947. Stella survived another 43 years passing away on 19 August 1990. Both are buried near her parents in the Morven Cemetery
Stella Deese is my 1st Cousin twice removed.
