It’s Family Time~James Franklin Perkins & Margaret Emmeline Davis

James Franklin Perkins was born on 23 February 1826 in either Virginia or North Carolina according to census data. His parents are unknown. He and John Henry Perkins are believed to be brothers and sons of  David Perkins or John Perkins.

James Franklin Perkins married Margaret Emmeline Davis about 1855. This date is based on the birth of their first-born, William A. Perkins on  4 August 1859. Also, the 1900 Census shows that they were married for 45 years with 14 Children of which 12 were living at time the census was taken. 

James Franklin was a successful farmer in the Court House township. .

James Franklin Perkins and Margaret Emeline Davis had the following children:

i. William A. Perkins, born 4 Aug 1859, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married Georgia A. Caulder, 1904, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; died 30 Jun 1940, Rockingham, Richmond, North Carolina.
ii. Julia Elizabeth Perkins, born 15 Mar 1862, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married George Washington Rivers, abt 1912, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; died 1 Jan 1950, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.
iii. Margaret Ardelia Perkins was born in 1865 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.
iv. Julian B. Perkins was born in 1867 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.
v. Mary Frances Perkins, born 16 Feb 1871, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married Carl Alfree Lawson, 23 Aug 1891; died 23 Jul 1952, Wadesboro, Anson, North Carolina.
vi. Eliza Jane Perkins, born 16 Feb 1871, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married Lloyd Lee Shaw, 30 Nov 1902, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; died 11 Jun 1947, Gadsden County, Florida.
vii. John D. Perkins was born in 1872 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina. He last found in the 1930 census.
viii. James E. Perkins was born in 1873 or 1874 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.
ix. Catherine Virginia "Katie" Perkins, born Feb 1877, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married Walter L. Giles, 1897; died 16 Jan 1930, Caddo Parish, Louisiana.
x. Dr. David Richard Perkins, born 2 Jun 1878, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married M. Arlena Sturdivant, June 5, 1904 , Union County, North Carolina; died 12 Nov 1930, Monroe, Union, North Carolina.
xi. Infant Perkins was born in 1880 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina. She died about 1880 at the age of 0.
xii. Minnie Perkins, born 13 Oct 1884, Chesterfield County, South Carolina; married Charles A. Horton, 1 Jan 1913, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; died 6 Aug 1949, Columbia, Richland, South Carolina.
xiii. Iris Lena Perkins was born on 3 Jul 1886 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina. She died on 17 Jan 1956 at the age of 69.

James Franklin Perkins died on 22 November 1910. His wife, Margaret Emmeline, would live another 18 years passing away on  18 March 1926. Both are buried in Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery.
