It’s Family Time~Valentine ‘Vol’ Brock and Bethany Ginn

Valentine "Vol" Brock, son of James L. Brock and his wife Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ Purvis, was born about 1821 in Alabama.  He was the oldest son of 11 children borne to James and Betsy. The family moved to Pike County about 1828 and Valentine spent his life there as a parishioner in the Silver Creek and Bogue Chito Church. He died on 22 Feb 1881 at the age of 60 in Washington Parish, Louisiana and was buried on 24 Feb 1881 in the Brock Cemetery, Walthall County, Mississippi.

Valentine "Vol" Brock and Bethany Thaney Ginn were married about 1845 in Pike County, Mississippi. Bethany Thaney Ginn, daughter of Jeptha Ginn and Penina Magee, was born in 1820 in Pike County, Mississippi.  She died on 10 Oct 1880 at the age of 60 in Washington Parish, Louisiana and was buried in the Brock Cemetery, Walthall County, Mississippi.

Valentine Brock and Bethany Thaney Ginn had the following children:
        i.    William Franklin Brock, born 22 Oct 1847, Pike County, Mississippi; married Sarah Brumfield, abt 1866; married Cynthia Elizabeth Alford, 11 Dec 1871, Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, USA; died 21 Aug 1910, Tylertown, Walthall County, Mississippi.
         ii.    Hannah B. Brock was born about 1849 in Pike County, Mississippi.
         iii.    Huriah Richmond "Huey" Brock, born 20 Apr 1849, Pike County, Mississippi; married Sophronia L. Holmes, 16 Dec 1869; died 10 Nov 1874, Pike County, Mississippi.
         iv.    Alexander Haverson "Bosa" Brock, born 21 Aug 1850, Pike County, Mississippi; married Lucy Rebecca Bickham; died 19 May 1880.
         v.    Dr. James Monroe Brock, born 22 Mar 1853, Pike County, Mississippi; married Armentha Martina Holmes, 21 Dec 1872; married Fannie McMichael, 6 Nov 1911, Grand Cane, La; died 21 Dec 1916, Mount Hermon, Washington, Louisiana.
         vi.    Dr. Jeptha S. Brock, born 15 Dec 1854, Warnerton, Washington Pr., LA; married Susan Alvaline Holmes, 7 Dec 1874, Brockdale, LA; died 7 Oct 1914, Warnerton, Washington Pr., LA.
         vii.    Elizabeth Eveline "Lizzie" Brock, born 14 Jan 1855, Pike County, Mississippi; married William Alfred Simmons, abt 1873, Pike County, Mississippi; died 14 Oct 1936, Pike County, Mississippi.
         viii.    Elizabeth Jane "Eliza" Brock, born abt Jul 1858, Pike County, Mississippi; married Jarrett Cylan Smith, 3 Oct 1878; died 21 Jun 1899.
         ix.    Levy O. Brock was born in 1858 in Pike County, Mississippi.  He died before 1870 at the age of 12.
         x.    Louella "Ella" Brock, born abt 1861, Pike County, Mississippi; married Iverson Eugene Smith, 1880, Pike County, Mississippi; died 28 Nov 1896, McComb, Ms 5 wks after the birth of infant twin sons.

Valentine Brock is my 2nd Cousin 4 times removed.
