It’s Family Time~The Michael M. Davis Family

Michael M. Davis, borne 20 September 1867 was the second born child and firstborn son of William Alfred Davis and Nancy J. Hurst.

In his early manhood, he left Chesterfield County and migrated to  Kaufman County, Texas. There he met and married Magnolia Rose “Maggie” Morris in 1895.

I haven’t found a marriage certificate for Michael and Maggie. The marriage year (1895) came from the 1900 Census for Kaufman County whereby Michael & Maggie indicated they had been married for 5 years with 2 children both living.

Michael was a farmer his entire life. The 1930 Census showed that he and Maggie owned their home.

Michael M. Davis and Magnolia Rose Morris had the following 4 children:
        i.    Lola C. Davis was born about 1897 in Kaufman County, Texas.
ii.    Shirley Mae Davis, born 25 Jun 1899, Lawrence, Texas; married John L. Jones; died 1 May 1946, Terrell, Kaufman, Texas.
iii.    Bessie J. Davis, born abt 1904, Kaufman County, Texas; married William Alex Stark; died 23 Sep 1966, Paris, Lamar, Texas.
iv.    Fannie Irene Davis was born on 28 Aug 1908 in Lawrence, Kaufman, Texas. She died on 19 May 1929 at the age of 20 in Terrell, Kaufman, Texas. Fannie was a student and only 20 years 8 months 23 days at the time of her death.

Michael M. Davis died from chronic hypertension and a coronary occlusion on 5 May 1838. No tombstone has been found nor does his death certificate show the cemetery he was buried within; only, that he was buried in Terrell, Kaufman County, Texas.

Magnolia Rose “Maggie” Morris Davis died on 27 September 1963 in Paris, Lamar County, Texas.  She was buried in West Side Cemetery, Terrell, Kaufman County, Texas. Her husband, Michael, is most likely also buried in this Cemetery.

Today, there is no West Side Cemetery listed in Terrell, Kaufman County, Texas.

Michael M. Davis is my 1st Cousin 3 times removed.
