William Lafayette Brown, Jr. was born 30 October 1836 a son of William Lafayette Brown, Sr. and Martha J. Hamrick. He was the Grandson of John H. Brown and Sarah Rivers.  he was born in Lauderdale County, Mississippi.

Sarah Ann Dollar was born 11 March 1836 in Pickens County, Alabama, a daughter of Ambrose Dollar.

William Lafayette Brown, Jr. and Sarah Ann Dollar were married 1 October 1853 in Lauderdale County, Mississippi.
