It’s Family Time~The John Morrison Brown Family

John Morrison Brown was born on 10 Jul 1836 in Clarke, Mississippi. He was the 5th of six children borne to Francis D. Brown and Elizabeth Coulter. He had one
brother and four sisters.

John Morrison Brown and Martha Ann Kellar were married on 7 Mar 1861 in St. Tammany, Louisiana.

Martha Ann Keller was born on 24 May 1848 in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana. She was a daughter of Henry Kellar.  She died on 6 Feb 1909 at the age of 60 in Silsbee, Hardin, Texas.

The 1900 Census shows that John and Martha Ann had 10 children of which only 6 were living in June of 1900. So far I have only identified 6 of the 10 children.


John Morrison Brown and Martha Ann Kellar had the following children:

i. Elizabeth Brown was born about 1862. She died before 1880 at the age of 18.

ii. Richard Henry Brown, born 15 Jan 1865, St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana; married Sarah Jane Collier, 6 Apr 1884, Hardin County, Texas; married Rebecca Jane Collier, 11 Apr 1901, Tyler County, Texas; died 17 Apr 1945, Silsbee, Hardin, Texas.

iii. Mary Jane Brown, born 22 Apr 1867, Louisiana; married Samuel Franklin Lakey; died 30 Jun 1920, Texas.

iv. James Brown was born about 1871.

v. William Brown was born about 1873.

vi. Naomi Brown was born about 1873.

Martha Ann (Kellar) Brown died on 6 Feb 1909 at the age of 60 in Silsbee, Hardin, Texas. John Morrison Brown died on 17 Feb 1910 at the age of 73 in Kountze, Hardin, Texas. They are buried in the Knupple Cemetery, Silsbee, Hardin County, Texas.

John Morrison Brown is my 2nd Cousin 4X Removed.
