In this Land Deed, we have the surviving children of John B. Rivers and his wife Eliza Rivers selling 52 1/2 acres to my 2nd Great Grandfather John W. Privett.

John B. Rivers and his wife Eliza Rivers had eleven known children. John B. Rivers died 3 June 1859 leaving Eliza, a widow, with nine children under the age of 21. During the Civil War, Eliza lost 5 of her 8 sons to the war; killed in action or died of disease.

By the time of her death about 1870 the only children surviving are the 5 listed above, William Frederick, Doctor Wesley, Alfred W.; Nancy A. and Eliza Rivers.

The above-named Rivers are my 1st Cousins 5 times removed. John Washington Privett is my 2nd Great Grandfather.

NOTE: Blogger does not handle ampersands very well so I have substituted the plus (+) sign; so the + sign = and
NOTE 2: This land deed shows Alfred Rivers middle initial to be a “W”. His tombstone shows his middle initial to be an “L”.
