It’s Family Time~The John William Wadsworth Family

John William Wadsworth was borne 21 February 1856, a son of Louis H. Wadsworth and Mary Ann Freeman. He was their first borne son. John William had two older sisters, 5 younger sisters, of which one died as an infant and one brother.

About January 1878, John William married Margaret Emaline Davis.

Margaret Emaline was borne 2 November 1853, a daughter of John Calvin Davis and his wife Charlotte Hurst. Her father, John Calvin, was my 3rd Great grand Uncle. Margaret was borne into a rather large family. Her arrival in November 1853 made her #9 among what would become a family of twelve; six brothers and five sisters.  

John William and Margaret Emeline first child arrived on 1 November 1878, a son they named J. Monroe Wadsworth. Monroe would eventually have 4 other siblings, two brothers and two sisters.  

The children of John William Wadsworth and Margaret Emaline Davis are:

i. J. Monroe Wadsworth was born on 1 Nov 1878 in Hartsville, Darlington, South Carolina. He died on 6 Jul 1888 at the age of 9 in Hartsville, Darlington, South Carolina.

ii. J. Ida Wadsworth was born on 16 Apr 1880 in Hartsville, Darlington, South Carolina. She cared for her parents until their death in early 1938; appeared in the 1940 census for Darlington County, SC and no further record found after the 1940 Census. 

iii. Mettie Jane Wadsworth, born 9 May 1882, Hartsville, Darlington, South Carolina; married Willie N. McKenzie, 15 May 1895, Hartsville, Darlington, South Carolina; died 23 Dec 1960, Hartsville, Darlington, South Carolina.

iv. James L. Wadsworth, born 18 May 1885, Hartsville, Darlington, South Carolina; married Sarah King, 10 Aug 1904, Hartsville, Darlington, South Carolina; died 23 May 1921, Atlanta, Fulton, Georgia.

v. W. Carl Wadsworth, born 23 Nov 1892, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married Ethel Lee, 16 May 1916; died 23 Aug 1976, Florence, Florence, South Carolina.

On 19 January 1938, Margaret E. Davis Wadsworth died. One month and 19 days later John William Wadsworth died on 10 March 1938. John William and Margaret E. Wadsworth are buried in the Hebron United Methodist Church Cemetery, Bishopville, Lee County, South Carolina.

John William Wadsworth is my 2nd Cousin 3X removed.

Margaret Emaline Davis Wadsworth is my 1st Cousin 4X removed.
