Treasure Chest Thursday~First Cousins Jane and Isabella Honeycutt

While searching for the marriage of Nellie Isabella Huneycutt, the sister of my 2nd Great Grandmother Louvena Huneycutt Deese I was rewarded with a double entry find of two of my Huneycutt cousins. Not only did I find Isabella Huneycutt marriage to Henry Harrison Deese but I also found Jane Hunicut marriage to Abel Deese.

Nellie Isabella Huneycutt was born 27 October 1858 to James W. Huneycutt and Sarah Elizabeth Page. She married Henry Harrison Deese, born 4 August 1845, son of Samuel Deese and Sarah ‘Sallie’ Hill on 1 February 1875.1

The entry in the Marriage Index Book just above the listing of Nellie marriage is the marriage of her 1st cousin,  Rowena Jane “Roaney Jane” Huneycutt to Abel Deese.

While Nellie Isabella Huneycutt the daughter of James W. Huneycuut and Sarah Elizabeth Page; “Roaney Jane” Huneycutt was the daughter of James’ brother David M. Huneycutt and  Edith Underwood. “Roaney Jane” Honeycutt was born 15 March 1853. She and Abel Deese were married 27 March 1873. Abel was the son of Charles Deese and his wife, Frances.2

Nellie Isabella and “Roaney Jane” Huneycutt are my 1st cousin 3 times removed. Nellie Isabella Huneycutt Deese is also my Great Grand Aunt.
