During this past week I was looking for some information on the Kings Highway, a 1300 mile stretch of road between Boston, Massachusetts and Charleston, South Carolina.
I found three Webpages that I highly recommend for genealogist if you need some quick information on early roads in America.
The first is:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~gentutor/trails.htmlThis websites has detailed information on the early roads and trails with down-loadable PDF available for each named road, route, trail. The PDF’s contain background information, timeline of road existence and maps. Some of those covered are:

Great Valley Road
King's Highway

Pennsylvania Road
Santa Fe Trail
Trail of Tears

Wilderness Road
Zane's Trace
The second webpage is:
Historic American Trails, Roads and Migration Routes
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~tqpeiffer/Documents/American%20Migration%20Routes%20TOC.htm
This websites focuses primarily on major routes in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
The 3rd Website is:
FamilySearch - US Migration Trails and Roads
https://familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/US_Migration_Trails_and_Roads
These three websites contain historical information on early roads, trails and paths throughout the United States. Information that we can use in the study of our ancestors and their migration. If you need information on early roads I‘m sure you will find that information of one of these three websites.
