One document states that William Blakeney of the District of

Chesterfield died intestate in 1842, leaving no children.

Married in Chesterfield Dist., on Thursday evening, the 25th inst., by

W. L. Robeson, Esq., Mr. Obedah Gullage, to Mrs. Lancy Boatright. (July

1, 1840)

This document show that Obediah Gulledge and Lavicy (Thurman) Boatwright was married on the 25 inst. (this month). Since the newspaper edition is 1 July 1840 the marriage date for the two has to be 25 June 1840. This is the first document I have seen with an actual date. Drury Boatwright War of 1812 Pension records says the marriage took place in the Fall of 1839,

Military Monday~ Pvt. Carrol Washington Davis

Carrol Washington Davis enlisted with Company C, 2nd Battalion South Carolina Sharp Shooters on May 1, 1862. This muster card shows that he was “absent” in September-October 1862.[1] Ironically, he would not die in the War but at home approximately four (4) months later.

Carrol Washington Davis was born on 20 June 1821, a son of William Davis and Julia Thurman. His estate folder (Probate File #66) shows that he died in February 1863.[2]

He was twice married to sisters, daughters of Lewis Boatwright and Elizabeth Rebecca Davis Boatwright. He was first married to Elizabeth Boatwright; she died 15 December 1852. He then married her sister, Mary B. Boatwright. Mary B. Boatwright died 22 February 1863.  

In February a double tragedy struck this family, his wife Mary B. Boatwright died as a result of childbirth complication during the birth of their daughter Mary Eliza Davis. Mary Eliza survived and raised a family;

 dying in January 1945.

While his estate does not show an exact death date; I know he died on or after 22 February 1863. In his estate folder only his children were named as survivors; his wife was not mentioned.

Carrol W. Davis and Mary B. Davis are buried in the Davis Family Cemetery, Chesterfield, Chesterfield County, South Carolina.[3]

Pitfalls: Some Approved Genealogies Are Wrong

One of the giants in genealogy, Milton Rubincam, wrote a book in 1987 entitled “Pitfall in Genealogical Research”. The first chapter of his book is entitled “The Sanctity of The Printed Word” basically expounding the notion that blind acceptance of printed genealogies is fool-hardy.

In this article we will look at the sanctity of the printed word and reinforced the idea that printed genealogical information can in fact be misrepresented, manufactured and presented as factual.

I have been doing genealogical research for many years. We all make mistakes and I am positive there are mistakes in my database and in words that I have written; but, I can assure you they were not deliberate.

First, to all the new “budding” genealogists and family historians I would offer this advice: Do not believe anything you read on-line until you confirm that it true and you have an Original Source Document in hand verifying/confirming the information you found on-line.

Case in point is this Sons of American Revolution (SAR) Membership form approved and verified by  genealogy experts at SAR headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky.

A partial view of the Approved SAR application is shown to make a point and information has been excluded to protect the identity of the applicant.

The basis of this SAR application is that:

Sarah Bush Boatwright, b. 12 August 1856, Augusta, Georgia, died 19 October 1917 in Miami, Florida is the Daughter of George Boatwright and Mary Bush and that George is the Son of Lewis Boatwright an Margaret Elizabeth Davis. Margaret Elizabeth Davis is the daughter of Thomas Davis and Nancy Rivers and Nancy Rivers is the daughter of Frederick Rivers.

Lewis Boatwright and his wife Elizabeth Davis, Thomas Davis and Frederick Rivers are my ancestors. I have spent many hours researching these individuals.

So let evaluate this application and discuss some irregularities in the application.

We will start at the top.

Assertion: Sarah Bush Boatwright, b. 12 August 1856, Augusta, Georgia, died 19 October 1917 in Miami, Florida is the Daughter of George Boatwright and Mary Bush and that George is the Son of Lewis Boatwright an Margaret Elizabeth Davis.

Response. I don’t know who Sarah Bush Boatwright is but I have found no evidence that George R. Boatwright, Son of Lewis Boatwright had a daughter named Sarah Bush and he certainty DID NOT marry Mary Bush.

Assertion: Sarah Ann BUSH, b. 12 August 1856, Augusta, Georgia, died 19 October 1917 in Miami, Florida is the Daughter of George Boatwright and Mary Bush.

Response: This portion of this application may be correct; but, this George Boatwright IS NOT the son of Lewis Boatwright that married Margaret Elizabeth Davis.

Assertion: George Boatwright, b. 1823, d. 1864 married Mary Bush in 1849. She was born 1826 and died in 1876. George is the Son of Lewis Boatwright an Margaret Elizabeth Davis.

Reponse: Lewis Boatwright and his wife Elizabeth Davis oldest son was George R. Boatwright. George was married to Lauretta Hurst and she died young on 8 August 1863. George R. Boatwright never left Chesterfield and can be found in census and land records from his birth to his death on 9 April 1894. He did have a daughter named Sarah; but, her name was Sarah Catherine Boatwright and she married William J. Freeman abt 1891. There was no wife or child named MARY in George’s family.

Assertion: George Boatwright, b. 1823, d. 1864 married Mary Bush in 1849
George R. Boatwright, son of Lewis Boatwright was b. 19 Jan 1819 and died 8 Apr 1894. (Does not match above assertion). George Boatwright in the SAR App was b. in 1823 and died in 1864.

George R. Boatwright b. 1819 married Lauretta Hurst about 1852. (The Census shows wife Lauretta not wife Mary).

George/George R. is enumerated in 1850-1880 Census for Chesterfield County with no indication he ever left the state.[1] [2] [3] [4]

The George Boatwright on the SAR application married in 1849 and was 4 years younger than George R. Boatwright, son of Lewis. George R. Boatwright was single and living with his parents who both were still living in 1850.[5]

George R. Boatwright was born on 19 Jan 1819 and died on 9 Apr 1894 at the age of 75 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.

George R. Boatwright and Lauretta Hurst were married about 1852 in Chesterfield County, South Carolina.

Lauretta Hurst, daughter of Isaac Hurst and Henrietta Rivers, was born in 1831.[6] [7] [8] She died on 8 Aug 1863 at the age of 32 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.

The Will of George R. Boatwright names daughters Elizabeth McBride, Lauretta Boatwright, Sarah C. Boatwright, grandson Irvin Brock and son Drury L. Boatwright.[9]
This is the key document in exposing the falsehood of the above application. 

George and Lauretta had 6 children of which one son died young. When he wrote his WILL his wife Lauretta  and daughter, Harriette "Hennie" Boatwright Brock had passed away. Harriette left one surviving son - Irvin Samuel Brock. George names all his surviving children and this grandson in his WILL. 

George R. Boatwright and Lauretta Hurst had the following children:
i. Elizabeth R. Boatwright, born 1853 married Andrew J. McBride; died 30 Jul 1916, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.
ii. Hariett "Hennie" Boatwright, born 8 May 1854, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina married Ervin Samuel Brock Sr., abt 1879; died bef 1894, Chesterfield County, South Carolina.
iii. Lewis Boatwright was born on 8 May 1854; died on 3 Jun 1857 at the age of 3 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.
iv. Laura R. Boatwright, born 4 May 1857, Chesterfield County, South Carolina; married Isaac Jacob Davis, 26 Dec 1894; died 8 Aug 1940, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.
v. Drury Lewis Boatwright, born 1 Apr 1860, Chesterfield County, South Carolina; married Julia Ella Teal, abt 1878; died 9 Feb 1939, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.
vi. Sarah Catherine Boatwright, born 10 Aug 1862, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina; married William J. Freeman, abt 1891; died 26 Oct 1947, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.

Sarah Bush Boatwright lineage as shown in this SAR application and many more along with numerous approved DAR application is bogus. There is no connection to Lewis Boatwright, Margaret Elizabeth Davis, Thomas Davis, Nancy Rivers and Frederick Rivers.

All admissions to the SAR and DAR through these men are manufactured and are not verifiable using the Genealogical Proof Standard (GPS). Individuals who are member of the SAR/DAR though this lineage should be made to re-verify their membership with proven genealogies.

Surname Saturday–Wynne and Boatwright

Artimica Wynn was born in 1834 in Georgia.^{1 2 3 4 5} She died in 1904 at the age of 70 in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas.^{6 7}
 

Artimica Wynne and Thomas Boatwright were married on 21 Jun 1849 in Richmond County, Georgia. Thomas Boatwright, son of Andrew Drury Boatwright and Levicia Thurman, was born about 1819 in Chesterfield County, South Carolina.^{8 9} He appeared in the 1860-1880 Census for Hancock County, Georgia and McLennan County, Texas.^{10 11 12} He died in 1887 at the age of 68 in Brazos County, Texas.¹³ 

Thomas Boatwright and Artimica Wynne are buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Macon, Bibb County, Georgia.¹⁴

Thomas Boatwright and Artimica Wynne had the following children:

i. Emma Boatwright was born in Aug 1850 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.^{15 16}
ii. L. Boatwright was born about 1852 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.¹⁷ She died before 1870 at the age of 18.

Sarah Ann Hurst Boatwright Will & Estate

Sarah Ann Hurst was born on 10 Mar 1826 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina[1].  Sarah Ann [Hurst] Boatwright Will is dated 1 March 1904. Sarah died before 18 October 1909 at the age of 83 and was buried in the Boatwright Family Cemetery, Chesterfield County, South Carolina.[2]

Sarah Ann Hurst and Samuel Boatwright were married in late 1850. Samuel Boatwright, son of Lewis Boatwright and Elizabeth Rebecca Davis, was born on 5 Aug 1832 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina. He died on 19 Feb 1863 at the age of 30 and is buried in the Boatwright Cemetery, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina. Sarah Ann Hurst and Samuel Boatwright had the following children:

1. William Manley Boatwright[3] was born on 13 Dec 1852 in died on 23 Jun 1937 at the age of 84 in Anson County, North Carolina. William was buried on 24 Jun 1937 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina, United States.

William Manley Boatwright and Julia Ann Davis were married about 1870. Julia Ann Davis, daughter of John Calvin Davis and Charlotte Hurst, was born on 20 Mar 1849 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.[4]    She died at the age of 62 on 27 September 1911 and was buried in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.

William Manley Boatwright and Lottie May Williams were married on 1 Jul 1912 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina. Lottie May Williams, daughter of Reason Williams and Jane Ricketts, was born on 4 Jul 1888 and died on 1 Sep 1920 at the age of 32 in Anson County, NC. She was buried on 3 Sep 1920 in Anson County, North Carolina, United States.

William Manley Boatwright and Susan Davis were married on 15 Sep 1920 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina. Susan Davis, daughter of Isham Davis and Mary, was born on 20 Aug 1872 and died on 1 Nov 1957 at the age of 85 in Florence, Florence, South Carolina. She was buried in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.

2. John Calvin "Cally" Boatwright was born about 1855 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina. He died in 1938 at the age of 83 in Sarasota, Sarasota County, Florida.

John Calvin "Cally" Boatwright and Henrietta E. Hurst were married. Henrietta E. Hurst, daughter of William Monroe Hurst and Mary E. Powell, was born about 1855 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina, United States.

John Calvin "Cally" Boatwright and Elizabeth were married about 1896. Elizabeth was born about 1879 in FL.

3. Isaac James Boatwright was born in Mar 1860 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina. He died on 1 Sep 1928 at the age of 68 and was buried in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.

Isaac James Boatwright and Mary Jane Lampley were married about 1894. Mary Jane Lampley, daughter of Jacob Lampley and Mary McLauren, was born in Jun 1864 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.  She died on 29 Aug 1926 at the age of 62 and was buried in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.

4. Nancy Boatwright was born in 1858 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.

5. Mary Lucinda Boatwright was born in 1862. She died on 19 Jul 1918 at the age of 56 and was buried in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.

Mary Lucinda Boatwright and Repsey Edward Tucker were married. Repsey Edward Tucker, son of Repsey Tucker and Nancy Hurst, was born in 1856 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina, United States. He died before 1910 at the age of 54.

Sarah Hurst Boatwright died in 1909 and left this WILL[5].

South Carolina}

Chesterfield County} I, Sarah Ann [Hurst] Boatwright of said County and State do make this my last will and testament revoking any and all former wills by me made.

1.   I give, devise and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Lucinda Tucker all of my property of every kind whatever that I may be seized of and possess at the time of my death, it being my intention that the said Mary Lucinda Tucker shall [have] all the property I have at my death. In witness whereof I hereunto sign my name and affix my seal 1st March A. D. 1904

Signed, Sealed and Published and declared by the above named Sarah Ann Boatwright as and for her Last Will and Testament in the presence of us, who in her presence and in the presence of each other and at her request have here unto subscribed our names as witnesses.

Her will (estate #1141) wad probated on 18 October 1909 in Chesterfield County, South Carolina.

Note: FindAGrave Memorial #83583139 has her death date recorded as 8 June 1910. This is obviously wrong. Her Will was probated on 18 October 1909.

Sarah had 3 sons still living at her death but she left her entire estate to Mary Lucinda Tucker, her daughter. No record has been found of her other daughter, Nancy, after the 1870 Census. She is presumed to have died young.

Thompson Powell, Early Chesterfield, SC Settler

Thompson B. Powell was born about 1802 in SC. He appeared in the 1850 & 1860 Census in Chesterfield County, South Carolina, United States.[1][2]

Thompson died about 1866 at the age of 64 in Chesterfield County, South Carolina, United States.

His estate[3] was probated with Letters of Administration issued to R. T. Powell on 11 June 1866.

His estate was appraised and all items were sold at auction on 25 June 1866.

Thompson B. Powell and Mary Boatwright were married about 1834 in Chesterfield County, South Carolina, United States. Mary Boatwright, daughter of Lewis Boatwright and Sarah Lundy, was born about 1810 in SC. [4][5] It is not known when she passed away but is believed to happen prior to 1870. The 1870 Census has Richard and Ellen living in a household and the other children are married and living with their families. 

Thompson B. Powell and Mary Boatwright had the following children:

                i.              Mary E. Powell, born 3 Dec 1835, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina, United States; married William Monroe Hurst; died 9 May 1917, McFarlan, Anson County, North Carolina.

                ii.             Richard Thompson Powell, born abt 1841, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina, United States; married M. W. T. [LNU, last name unknown] , abt 1875.

                iii.            Ann Rebecca Powell, born 9 Jan 1847, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina, United States; married Ferguson Hale Smith, abt 1871; died 24 Feb 1902, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina, United States.

                iv.           Ellen E. Powell was born on 11 Oct 1851 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina, United States. [6][7][8] She died on 9 Dec 1940 at the age of 89 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina, United States. A Memorial has been created for her at www.findagrave.com.

Her obituary was published in local newspaper and a copy was found in the Scrapbook of Ella Jane White, daughter of Henry Wiley White and Emma Hudson Eddins White.

Miss Ellen Powell, 92, died at the home of her great-nephew, Lee Jenkins, just west of Chesterfield, early Monday morning and was buried at Pine Grove cemetery Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. Miss Powell was the youngest child of the late Thompson and Polly Powell, who were among the earliest settlers of this county. She had one brother, Richard Powell who was a captain in the Confederate Army and for years engaged in business in Cheraw. She was distantly related to Drewery Boatwright whose monument in the Boatwright cemetery bears the date 1812. She was the aunt of Miss Artie Hurst, Mrs. Jesse Jenkins, Miss Garphilia Smith and Miss Nettie Smith. She was distantly related also to the Powells of Columbia , Bennettsville and Cheraw, and to the Rivers family of Chesterfield.

She never married and was a lifelong resident of Chesterfield County.

She is buried in the Pine Grove Baptist Church cemetery.

Simon Lundy Will provides key to wife of Lewis Boatwright

For many years I knew from census records that Lewis Boatwright had married Sarah [LNU[1]]. About January 2001, I networked with a Boatwright researcher that provided me a clue to her identity. The document was a SC equity record abstract.

Simon Lundy of Chesterfield Co. died 1796. Wife Becky Lundy. (his will dated July 26, 1795) Issue:
Edith Lundy "Edy", at age of 50 married James Wages, 21, in 1813. She had one illegitimate child,
1. Becky Lundy, married Alexander Melton
2. Sarah Boatwright, wife of _____ Boatwright
3. Drury Lundy

Based on the time frame it seemed evident that the Sarah Boatwright named above was also the Sarah married to Lewis Boatwright.

Since that time I have found several documents that proved this connection; one of those being the Will of Simon Lundy.

Sarah Lundy, daughter of Simon Lundy and his wife Rebecca [LNU], married Lewis Boatwright about 1785. Their firstborn, a daughter, named Siddie was born January 1786.

This WILL is NOT indexed nor listed on the SC Archives database yet it is contained within Equity Records on file at the Archives.

Exhibit (A) Simon Lundy Will

In the name of God Amen. I Simon Lundy of Chesterfield County and state of South Carolina being weak of body but of perfect mind, memory and understanding do hereby make my last will and testament in writing as follows:

First it is my will and desire that my beloved wife Becky Lundy have the use of my plantation and negroes with my stock of cattle, horses, hogs, and ____, houses, plantation tools and household furniture during her natural life and at her decease to go to the following persons Vis:

I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Edy Lundy one hundred and fifty acres of land bounding on Gilbert Purvis and Joseph Booth's land & on the East side on one hundred acres that I intend to will and bequeath to Sarah Boatwright and a negro fellow names Charles and a negro girl named Phebe with her future increases with my horses, cattle, hogs, sheep and geese and also my plantation tools and household furniture except a bed blanket and sheet and in case of her death without lawful heirs to her daughter Becky Lundy. But if she should have such lawful heirs, to be equally divided between them and the said Becky Lundy, her daughter, share and share alike. But in case said Edy Lundy and Becky Lundy die without such heirs lawfully begotten, that the aforesaid land, negroes, horses, black cattle, hogs, sheep, and geese with the plantation tools and household furniture be equally divided between my son Drury Lundy and my daughter Sarah Boatwright share and share alike.

I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Sarah Boatwright, one hundred acres of land adjoining the above mentioned one hundred and fifty [150] acres on the east and on land belonging to Drury Lundy and to include the plantation where Lewis Boatwright now lives with a negro woman named Celia with her future increase and a negro boy named Bob and also a bed, blanket, and sheet to her and her heirs share and share alike, and it is my will and desire that my said daughter Sarah Boatwright pay unto my beloved son Drury Lundy in one year after my decease one hundred [$100] dollars cash in order to purchase him a negro.

And I hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my beloved son Drury Lundy and my friend Haywood Todd, Senior Executor of this my last will and testament and I do hereby revoke and disannul all and all former and other Wills and Testaments by me in any wise here to fore made ratifying and confirming this my only Last Will and Testament in witness where I have here unto set my hand and seal this twenty-sixth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety-five.

Holmes-Boatwright Missing Links to Chesterfield Families

Michael Holmes was born on 22 Jul 1827 in Anson County, North Carolina, United States. He died on 20 Sep 1886 at the age of 59 in Abbeville, Henry Co., AL.

Michael Holmes and his cousin, John Martin Boatwright came to Henry County, Alabama in July 1845.

Michael served as a Private, Company B, 6th Alabama Infantry Regiment. While away for the War, Michael regularly wrote home to his Mother. Those letters can be accessed and read at this link.

Michael Holmes and Martha E. Howerton were married on 23 Dec 1851. Martha E. Howerton, daughter of John Wesley Howerton and Elizabeth Jane Chester, was born on 25 Dec 1832 in SC. She died on 8 May 1857 at the age of 24.

Michael Holmes and Martha E. Howerton had the following child:

1. Martha A. Holmes was born about 1852 in Abbeville, Henry County, Alabama and died in 1916.

Michael Holmes and Martha Eliza Roberts were married on 17 Jul 1860. Martha Eliza Roberts, daughter of Birch M. Roberts and Harriet M. Hardwick, was born on 25 Oct 1839 in Abbeville, Henry, Alabama, United States. She died on 8 Dec 1910 at the age of 71.

Michael Holmes and Martha Eliza Roberts had the following children:

1. Virginia Holmes, born abt 1862, Abbeville, Henry County, Alabama; married A. W. Holley.

2. Georgia Holmes, born on 4 Jun 1863 in Abbeville, Henry County, Alabama. She died on 22 Jul 1906 at the age of 43.

3. J. Edward Holmes, born in Feb 1866 in Abbeville, Henry County, Alabama.

4. Alexander Holmes, born about 1868 in Abbeville, Henry County, Alabama.

5. Mary Alma Holmes, born in Dec 1871 in Henry County, Alabama

6. Hinton Craddock Holmes, born 16 May 1874, Henry County, Alabama; married Danie Wood; died 11 Jan 1952.

7. Annie Holmes, born in Oct 1876 in Henry County, Alabama.

Michael Holmes died at the early age of 59. He was a well-respected member of his community. The following obituary and tribute is a testimony to his standing within the community.

The death of Michael Holmes, Age 59, was a great shock to his family and friends. He died at his home at Wesley on September 20, 1886. Several days before his death, a short notice as follows appeared in a local newspaper: "Abbeville Times - Friday, September 17, 1886. We regret to learn of the serious illness of Mr. Mike Holmes of Wesley caused by a carbuncle on his face.

He was not expected to live through last Tuesday night, but we learn that he was a good deal better Wednesday morning. We earnestly hope he may speedily recover for he is Henry County's best citizen. Since putting the above in type, we learn with regret that Mr. Holmes is gradually growing worse and is not expected to live through today, Thursday. " MICHAEL HOLMES died Monday morning, September 20, 1886, about three O'clock and was buried in Judson Cemetery the same evening.

Several announcements of his death were published in County newspapers, the first one in a Columbia, Alabama paper, The Columbia Enterprise: Thursday, September 23, 1886; "A SAD DEATH: Mr. Mike Holmes of Wesley, Ala. died at his residence about three O'clock on last Monday morning and was buried at Judson Church on the same evening. Mr. Holmes was one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of our county and had amassed a large fortune. He has a large number of friends who will mourn his death. His family and friends have our sympathy on this bereavement." Other tributes appeared in Abbeville newspapers:

Mr. M. Holmes who has been a citizen of this county for 40 odd years departed this life on last Sunday night at his home at Wesley, Ala. and was buried Monday evening at Judson Cemetery. He was truly a good man and loved by all that know him. The Times extends its sympathies to his many relatives and friends.

Abbeville Times - Friday September 24, 1886

MR. MIKE HOLMES

Born in Anson County North Carolina on 22nd July, 1827, Died the 20 inst. at 3:30 A.M. at his home Wesley, Alabama. An honest man the noblest work of God's creation, a faithful friend, a kind neighbor, a loving and indulgent father and husband. He came in 1845, a poor boy with a widowed mother, five sisters and one brother Ned, who was killed near Atlanta in 1864. With only $2.50 in his pocket in a strange Country among strangers, yet by his every industry, pluck and determination, he has amassed quite a competency, and leaves his family well provided. He has acted well his part in all the affairs of' life and leaves no stain upon his character. There are quite a number of successful men in this and surrounding country who owe their start in life to the aid and advise of Mike Holmes, but he is gone, and we shall see him no more, until the summons comes for us to join that innumerable host which will move from the pale realms of earth to a purer, fairer, and brighter world beyond this veil.
