John Keppel was borne 27 January 1757 in Gosenhoppen, Pennsylvania. he was the son of Peter Keppel, Sr and his wife Anna Elizabeth Grobb.
At some point in the mid 1770's the Kepples migrated to what was then known as Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. At about the same time my “DORR” ancestors migrated into the area and anglicized their name to be DRY.
On 10 May 1798, in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, John Kepple married Sarah Krawl/Crowell.

Know all men by thefe Prefents that we Johann
Keppel Kilian Keppel
of the County of Cabarrus and State of North Carolina
are held and firmly bound unto his Excellency Samuel
Afhe [Ashe] Esquire Governor Captain General & Commander in chief and over the state aforesaid in the juft and full Sum of five hundred pounds current money of this State to be paid to his said Excellency the governor his Succefsors & Afsigns to the which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves our heirs Executors & Administrators jointly and severally firmly
by thefe Prefents. Sealed with our Seals and dated this
10th day of May 1798.
The condition of the above Obligation is Such that
whereas the above bounds Scratch thru John Kepple
has made application for a License for a marriage to be
celebrated between him and @@@@@@ Sarah Krawl
of said County; now in Cafe it shall appear here-
after that there is any lawfull Caufe to obftruct the
Said Marriage then the above obligation to be void
otherwife to remain in full force and virtue.
