John Burk Dease was born 3 March 1782 in County Westmeath, Ireland. He swore in a Disposition that he became an inhabitant of Washington County in the Mississippi territory in eighteen hundred. He also states that he was 21 years of age on 3 March 1802 making his birth to be 3 March 1782. This 1808 Disposition was found in the American State Papers, House of Representatives, 10th Congress, 2nd Session; Public Lands: Volume 1; Page 705.
John Burk Dease married Bridget Gilliand, the widow of William Burke. To this union were born 5 children: 4 sons and a daughter.
Their 3rd born son was Eleazer Burke “Elzy” Dees born about 1814 in Alabama. Elzy Dees married Sarah Temperance Hayden about 1854. This marriage date is based on the birth of their known first born; a son, Bailey B. Dees on 12 May 1855 in Louisiana.
Eleazer Burke “Elzy” Dees and Sarah Temperance Hayden had a large family of eleven (11) children. The 4th child of 4 sons born in succession was a young lad given the name of his father - Eleazer Burke “Elzy” Dees, Jr.
Eleazer Burke “Elzy” Dees, Jr. was born about 1864 in Louisiana most likely in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana. Elzy married Margaret Antoinette “Maggie” Brinkley, daughter of James A. and Mary E. Brinkley. His occupation is listed as Hardware Merchant, Hardware Store Employee and the Town Marshall in 1920.

Elzy Burke Deese and Margaret Antoinette Brinkley had the following children:
i. Wallace Adams Deese was born on 1 Aug 1900. He died on 26 Nov 1979 at the age of 79.
ii. Margaret Temperance Deese, born 5 Jul 1903, Amite, Tangipahoa, Louisiana, United States; married Martin Joseph Ducote; died 2 Feb 1993, Lafayette, Lafayette, Louisiana, United States.
iii. Elizabeth Deese, born 1905. She died on 26 Nov. 1907, age of 2.

Elizabeth Dees, 2-year-old daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Elzy Dees, died last night. The funeral took place today, services being conducted by Rev. J. R. G. Hewlett. Interment was made in the City Cemetery.
iv. Elzey Burke Deese Jr. was born on 17 Nov 1908. He died on 7 Jan 1982 at the age of 73.
v. Catherine Deese, born 7 Aug 1918; married Rayford Elias Conerly Jr., 25 Dec 1942; died 28 May 2009.
