Chesterfield County}
                              Know all men by these presents that I Michael Davis of the County of Chesterfield in the State aforesaid, for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred dollars to me in hand paid by E. B. Davis of the County and State aforesaid have granted,bargained, sold and released and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell and release unto the said E. B. Davis all that tract or parcel of land Situate lying and being in the County and State aforesaid on both sided of Abrams Creek, containing Fifty-five acres more or less. Reference to a deed from G. A. Parker to James K. Parker, and from Nancy Parker to me, will more fully appear**. Also one other tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County + State aforesaid, on the east side of Abrams Creek including the whole of the swamp to W. A. Davis Line containing Twenty Six acres more or less, Reference to an Old Grant to          Kilgore will more fully appear; Together with all and singular the rights, members, hereditaments and appurtenances to the said premises belonging or in anywise incident or appertaining To Have and to Hold all and singular the premises before mentioned unto the said E. B. Davis his heirs and assigns forever. And I do hereby bind myself, my heirs, Executors and administrators to warrant and forever defend the said premises unto the said E. B. Davis, his heirs and assigns against me and my heirs and (page 204) against all persons whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof. Witness my hand and Seal this ninth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred seventy one and in the 96th year of the Sovereignty and Independence of the United States of America.

This Land Deed is between father (Michael) and son (Elisha Blakely) whereby the father is selling his son 81 acres (2 tracts, 55 acres, and 26 acres) for the sum of $100 dollars. The deed is dated 9 Dec 1871; in February 1874, Elisha married Mary Jane “Molly” Eddins. 

Michael Davis is my 3rd Great Grandfather; his son Elisha Blakely Davis is my 2nd Great Grand Uncle.

Its Family Time~The Marion Frederick Davis Family

Marion Frederick Davis was born 9 April 1886, a son of Elisha Blakely Davis and Mary Jane “Molly” Eddins. He was their 9th Child  joining 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Two years later Elisha and Molly would add another daughter to the family making the total to be 10 with 6 sons and 4 daughters.

After World War I, Marion met and married Lydia Ann Lee, daughter of Grant Lee, of Harnett County, North Carolina. The marriage took place in Johnston County, North Carolina on 4 July 1925. 

Marion Fredrick Davis and Lydia Ann Lee had the following children:

i. Fredrick Grant Davis was born on 18 Apr 1926 in Durham, Durham, North Carolina. He died on 29 Jan 1986 at the age of 59.
ii. Frances Merita Davis, born 20 Sep 1928, Durham, Durham, North Carolina; married Johnny Preston Rigsbee, 22 Apr 1950, Bennettsville, Marlboro, South Carolina; died 21 Dec 2002, Hillsborough, Orange, North Carolina.
iii. William Reginald Davis was born on 19 Sep 1930 in Durham, Durham, North Carolina. He died  on 29 July 2006 at the age of 75 in Durham, North Carolina.
iv. Living Daughter


Marion Frederick passed away on 23 August 1963, in Durham, North Carolina. His wife, Lydia Ann, lived another 15 years succumbing on 27 June 1978 in Durham.


Marion Frederick Davis is my 1st Cousin 3 times removed.

Elisha Blakely Davis, a son of Michael Davis and Hulda Rivers was born on 27 Jun 1848 in Chesterfield County, South Carolina.He died on 13 Oct 1912 at the age of 64 in Scotland County, North Carolina. He was buried on 13 Oct 1912 in Zoar UMC Cemetery, Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.1 

Mary Jane "Molly" Eddins, daughter of Joe Eddins and Tilda Ann Tyce, was born on 1 May 1854 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.She died on 14 Mar 1916 at the age of 61 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg, North Carolina, United States. She was buried at Zoar UMC Cemetery, on 15 Mar 1916 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.2 3

Elisha Blakely Davis was born on 27 Jun 1848 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.1 2 3 He is listed in the 1880 and 1900 Census for Chesterfield County, South Carolina.4 5 Elisha was also found in the 1910 Census for Marlboro County, South Carolina.6 He died on 13 Oct 1912 at the age of 64 in Scotland County, North Carolina and was buried at Zoar United Methodist Church Cemetery in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina. 7 8

Elisha Blakely Davis and Mary Jane "Molly" Eddins were married about 1874 in Chesterfield County, South Carolina.9 Mary Jane "Molly" Eddins, daughter of Joe Eddins and Tilda Ann Tyce, was born on 1 May 1854 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.10 11 12 13 She died on 14 Mar 1916 at the age of 61 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg, North Carolina.1415 She was buried on 15 Mar 1916 at Zoar United Methodist Church Cemetery in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.16
