Harriet A. Sellers, daughter of Phillip A. Sellers and Martha Ann Brooks, was born on 14 Feb 1851 in Anson County, North Carolina. Her Last Will + Testament, on file in Anson County, is dated 17 Mar 1917. Harriet died on 6 Jul 1925 at the age of 74 in Morven, Anson, North Carolina. She was buried on 6 Jul 1925 in Morven, Anson, North Carolina.

John Pratt and his Children

The 1873 marriage licensee of John W. Deese to Harriett Sellers shows his father to be John Pratt. The death certificate of John W. Deese also shows his Father as John Pratt and his mother a Deese.



John Pratt was born about 1812 and his son John W. Deese was born 15 July 1839. John Pratt’s parents are believed to be Samuel Pratt and Clarinda Teal. John W. Deese mother was a Mary ‘Polly’ Deese born 1808 died about April 1888.

John Pratt married Mary Ann Adams on 26 March 1844 in Anson County. Mary Ann was the daughter of John Adams and his wife Sarah. 

John Pratt and Mary Ann Adams had 6 known children before his death on 2 December 1859 in Morven, North Carolina.

In the 1880 Census, a Mary Dees, age 72, is listed in the Household of John Deese and Harriett Sellers. She is also listed as his Mother.
