July –Aug 1863 – listed as sick
Sept – Oct 1863 – absent, sick at Hospital
Nov – Dec 1863 – Sick at Hospital
Jan – Feb 1863 – absent, sick at Hospital
Jan – Feb 1864 – At general Hospital No. 2 (also called Hospital Encampment) Summerville, SC; no listing as to his status at this time.
April 30-1864 – Aug 31 1864 Muster Roll shows that he was taken prisoner on 24 June 1864.
He was captured near Petersburg, Virginia on 24 June 1864, his military records shows that he was sent to Point Lookout, Maryland.
March 2, 1865 – He was parole at Elmira, NY in a prisoner exchange and sent to James Rivers, Va.
At the time of his release, he had been held prisoner for 8 months 13 days.
9 March 1865 – He was received at Wayside Hospital or General Hospital No. 9, Richmond, Va.
9 May 1865 – Surrender document signed at Appomattox, Virginia – The War is Over
It would be another 2 months before all prisoners were released and sent home to their families

Thomas Franklin Davis is my 2nd great grand Uncle.
He is the son of Michael Davis and Hulda Rivers Davis, my 3rd great grandparents. Thomas was born 16 Feb 1841 and died 14 Feb 1915. He married Rosa Carolina Massey just after returning from the war in 1865. He is buried with his parents in Zoar Cemetery, Chesterfield County, South Carolina. [3]
