Another stumbling block in this reconstruction is the use of “Nicknames” in most southern family now and during past generations.
James Monroe Buckner was twice married; first to Julia Evelyn Bradley on 28 March 1880 in Union County, Arkansas. Julia was the daughter of Thomas Jefferson Bradley and Mary Louise Primm.
James and Julia had on child, a son:
- James Evelyn “Lynn” Buckner, born 11 Feb 1881 in Union County, Arkansas
Several things happen around this time period and as of yet I haven’t found documents that fully prove the sequence of event. One is that Julia Evelyn Bradley Buckner passed away and the other event was that James Monroe Buckner moved to Coryell County, Texas.
Regardless, On 26 January 1895, James Monroe Buckner married D. G. Goodwin in Coryell County, Texas.
Referring back to this posting it’s seem that D. G. Goodwin, daughter of Epps Rivers Brown and Dorinda Adair was previously married back in Ouachita, Arkansas to Joel H. Goodwin on 26 February 1879. For that marriage she used the name Julia A. Brown.

Compounding the confusion is the fact that Julie Eveyln Bradley’s Aunt Evalina Matilida Primm, was also married to Joel H. Goodwin on 19 June 1855 in Union County Arkansas.
Evalina Matilida Primm and Mary Louise Primm are sisters.
James Monroe Buckner and Dora G. [Brown] Goodwin Buckner did not have any known children.
Julie A. Brown, aka D. G. Goodwin/Dora/Donnie/Doanie/Julia/Julie/Elizabeth are all the same individual after 1895.
In a lot of respects, with the use of the wife name starting in 1900 it seems Dora Brown Goodwin basically assumed the 1st wife name.
Julia A. Brown/Dora died on 9 Jan 1933 as Donnie Buckner, wife of Jim Buckner, daughter of E. R. Brown and Dorinda Adair.
