The Marriage of William Daughtery Sellers

 William Daughtery ‘Dock’ Sellers was borne 11 Feb 1864 in Butler, Choctaw County, Alabama. He was a son of Mathew Sellers and Sarah “Sallie” Turnage whose roots began in Chesterfield County, South Carolina. He was the last of eight children borne to Mathew and Sallie.

At age 28, William D. Sellers and Melissa Christian were united in marriage on 6 January 1893 in Butler County, Alabama. William was a farmer for most of his life but the 1940 Census shows him as a retired Loomer. 

William Daughtery Sellers and Melissa Christian had the following children:

i. Maggie V. Sellers was born in Jul 1893 in Choctaw County, Alabama.

ii. Sallie M. Sellers was born in Dec 1894 in Choctaw County, Alabama.

iii. William Frank Sellers was born in May 1897 in Choctaw County, Alabama.

Melissa Christian Sellers passed away on 20 May 1905 at the age of thirty-one.  William Daughtery Sellers, age 84, died on 27 February 1948. She was buried in  Choctaw County, Alabama; he is buried in Ralls Cemetery, Ralls, Crosby County, Texas.
