It’s Family Time~The George W. Rummage Family

George W. Rummage was borne about 1834 in Montgomery County, North Carolina, a son of Thomas Rummage and his wife Nancy. 

Lydia G. Laton was borne  abt 1830 in Montgomery County, North Carolina, a daughter of John Laton, Sr. and his wife Catherine Dry. 

George W. Rummage and Lydia G. Laton were married  on 27 November 1856 in Stanly County, North Carolina. 

Then in April 1861, the Civil War began dragging all our young men into the conflict. George W. Rummage enlisted into Company “G” 42nd Infantry on 1 February 1862. He was captured, held as POW and died of disease on 6 November 1864 at Richmond, Virginia. 

In March 1869, Lydia G. Laton passed away leaving one son surviving.  

Their only known child, Robert F. Rummage, borne 30 April 1858 lost his father in the Civil War in November 1864 and his mother to an unknown cause in  March 1869.

In the 1870 Census, Robert F. Rummage can be found in the household of D. F. (Doctor Franklin ) and Elizabeth (Sarah Elizabeth Carter) Rummage. 

Lydia G. Laton is my 1st Cousin 4X Removed.
