It amazes me to see the menagerie created by “family historian.” How can anyone with an education take two men with 23 years difference in their age and with different wives; mix them up and combine them to create another person.
To add to this menagerie both of these men are said to be sons of Uriah Page.
The Name:
Today we will look at these two men's with the name – Dempsey Page.
Dempsey Page, borne about 1793.
This Dempsey Page married a lady named Macey [Last name unknown].
Dempsey & Macey had 6 children based on an 1850 Census listing Montgomery County, North Carolina.

The Children of Dempsey Page & Macey are:
i. Tedrick Page was born about 1829.
ii. Wiley Page, born abt 1832; married Malinda Hagler, 24 Aug 1852, Cabarrus County, North Carolina.
iii. Delila Page was born about 1835.
iv. Edmund Page was born about 1841.
v. Sally Page was born about 1844. I'm certain that Sally was born Sarah Lucinda Page, 4 Aug 1845, a daughter of Dempsey Page and Maxey [LNU].
vi. Darus Page was born about 1847.
No record of Dempsey, Macey and most of their children has been found after 1850, Stanly County, North Carolina. Marriage and several other listings were found for Wiley Page to Malinda Hagler and Sarah Lucinda Page to John Wesley Burleson.
Dempsey Page, borne 1815:
This Dempsey Page first married a lady named Melinda Brumly on 27 September 1843 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina. To this union was borne 6 children; four daughters and two sons. Melinda (Brumly) Page passed away at some point prior to 19 March 1867. With small children to care for, Dempsey married Elizabeth F. Stancil on 19 March 1867.
Many online trees have Dempsey Page listed as Marion Dempsey Page. Marion Dempsey Page and Dempsey Page are again two different men. Dempsey Page was born 1815 probably in Montgomery County, NC; he may be the son of Uriah Page and Gracey.
Marion Dempsey Page was born in Jun 1846 in Edgecombe County, NC to Elizabeth Page.
Dempsey Page and Melinda Brumly had the following children:
i. Jane C. Page was born about 1845.
ii. Mary Ann Page, born abt 1847; married Robert May, 23 Dec 1867, Rowan County North Carolina.
iii. Simon Peter Page was born about 1849.

Dempsey wrote his Last Will and Testament on 18 March 1879. His estate was probated 4 April 1879 with Milas A. File named as Executor.
Dempsey Page died between 18 March 1879 and 4 April 1879.
