In lands of W. A. Sossamon}
At this day the commissioners appointed of W. A. Sossamon to his widow makes these reports in words and figures as follows to wit:
State of Arkansas
County of Pope December 1865
In obedience to an order of Probate Court of Pope County of October 19^th 1865. We the subscribing commissioners have met this day and laid off and assigned to the widow of the late W. A. Sossamon her Dower in the Real estate of her deceased husband consisting of sixty six acres of land lying on the West Side of the tract including the dwelling house other buildings where the deceased W. A. Sossamon had his residence and hence one hundred and sixty rods in length from North & south and Sixty six rods from West & east the boundaries are designated by suitable marks. Believing this assignment to be just and equitable in accordance with law we hereunto subscribe our names.

Frances Caroline Teeter daughter of Peter Teeter and Ann Elizabeth Dry married William Allison Sossamon on 5 December 1835 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina. between 1835 and 1850 they migrated from Cabarrus County, North Carolina to Pope County, Arkansas.


Frances Caroline Teeter Sossamon is my 1st Cousin 4 times removed.

It’s Family Time~Ann Elizabeth Dry Teeter

Ann Elizabeth Dry was born about 1787 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Johann Martin Dry and Catherine Keppel. On 25 March 1809, at age 22, Elizabeth married Peter Teeter, son of Jacob Teeter.

Shortly after their marriage, Peter served a tour as a Private in the War of 1812. 

Between 1820 and 1840 Peter and Elizabeth along with their family of three sons and a daughter migrated to Pope County, Arkansas, settling in the Illinois township near Russellville, Arkansas. 

By 1850, all the children have left home and Peter and Elizabeth are enumerated in Russellville, Arkansas.   

1850 CENSUS: Pope County, Arkansas; Roll: M432_29; Image: 318, Page: 276A; Line 12, Dwelling 497, Family 497; Peter TEETER, male, age 62, Wheelwright, born in NC and Elizabeth TEETER, female, age 62, born in NC.
 
Then in 1859, Ann Elizabeth Dry Teeter passed away on 1 January 1859 and was buried in the Old Cove Cemetery, Russellville, Arkansas. I could not find a record of her death in the 1860 Mortality Schedule. 

After Ann Elizabeth's death, Peter found a younger lady to be his bride marrying Mary Nealy, age 47, on 3 Nov. 1859.

They are enumerated in the 1860 Pope County, Arkansas Census.

Peter Teeter died sometime after the enumeration of the 1860 Census. No record of his death has been found to date. 

Ann Elizabeth Dry Teeter is my 3rd Great Grand Aunt.</sup>
