The Asahel Six - Sarah Brock Family

On November 22, 1838, Sarah Brock and Asahel SIX were married in Hinds Co., Mississippi. ¹

Sarah Brock was the daughter of William Brock and granddaughter of Johan Valentine Brock. She was born about 1820 in Mississippi based on her report age of 30 in the 1850 Hinds County Census.

The 1850 and 1860 census shows that Asahel Six and Sarah Brock had the following children: ^{2 3}

i. Margaret Six was born about 1840^{. 4}
ii. Phillip Six, born abt 1843; married Sue S.; died 1890 or after.
iii. James Six was born about 1846 in Hinds County, Mississippi, United States.^{5 6}
iv. Mary Six was born about 1848 in Hinds County, Mississippi, United States^{. 7 8}
v. Hyram Six was born about 1851 in Hinds County, Mississippi, United States. ⁹
vi. Ophelia Six, born Mar 1856, Hinds County, Mississippi, United States; married John DeLoss King,; died 11 Sep 1911, Grant, AR.

Both Asahel and Sarah died between 1860 and 1870. No record of their death dates or burial has been found though there are dates recorded in on-line trees. Asahel parents, Phillip and Charlotte are buried in the Cayuga Cemetery, Cayuga, Hinds County, Mississippi.The last time I searched, these two tombstone are the only two tombstones for the SIX surname recorded in the state of Mississippi on the FindAGrave website.

There are several inter-marriages between the Brock and Six families in Mississippi. 

I spent one day at the Mississippi Archive in Jackson in February 2012. Further research will be continued during a visit to Salt Lake City later this year.
