This Indenture made this the 21st day of Dec. in the years one thousand eight hundred and eighty one between Hannah Philips, Elizabeth Philips, M. A. Philips, Lively Philips, C. M. Tarlton & wife S. J. Tarlton, Joel Sellers & Rachel Sellers, of the county of Anson and State of North Carolina, of the one part, and W. B. Little of the county of Anson and State of North Carolina of the other part. Witnesseth, That the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of Eighty dollars, to the said party of the first part in hand paid – the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged - hath sold and conveyed and doth hereby sell and convey to the said party of the second part, all that tract or parcel pf land, lying in the County of Anson and State of North Carolina and bounded as follows; to wit: beginning at a stake in the center of the Wadesboro & Camden road and runs N. 87 Wt. 20.75 links to a stake formerly to a stake by a dogwood, thence S. 1 Wt. 11 chains to a stake by a large post oak stump, thence So. 87 Et.12.60 links to the center of the Wadesboro & Camden road, thence with said road to the beginning containing about fifteen acres be the same more or less.To have and to hold the same, with the appurtenances thereunto belonging, to the said party of the second part, and his heirs and assigns forever. And the said party of the first part, for the consideration aforesaid, doth hereby covenant and agree to warrant and defend the premises aforesaid, to the said party of the second part his heirs,Executors, administrators, and assigns against the claim and entry of all persons whatsoever, and they doth further warrant that they are seized of the premises sin fee simple, and hath forever to make and convey such an estate by this Indenture, and hath done the same by these presents to the said Wm. B. Little. In witness whereof, the said party of the first part hath hereunto set…hand and seal, the day and year above written.

Anson County} I, W. D. Webb, a Justice of the Peace, do hereby certify that Hannah Philips, M. A. Philips, Elizabeth Philips, Lively Philips, C. M. Tarlton & wife Sarah J. Tarlton, Joel Sellers & wife Rachel Sellers personally appeared before me this day, and acknowledged the due execution of the foregoing deed of conveyance and the said Sarah J. Tralton and Rachel Sellers, being by me personally examined, separate and apart from their said husbands, touching them voluntary execution of the same doth state that they signed the same freely and voluntarily, without fear or compulsion of their said husbands or any other person and that they do still voluntarily assent thereto. Witness my hand and seal this December 27th, 1881.

My interest in this land deed (DB 21:625-626) and another Anson County Land Deed (DB 21:615-616) is they contain proof that Joel Sellers married Rachel Phillips daughter of Reuben J. Phillips and his wife Hannah.
I, W. D. Webb, a Justice of the Peace, do hereby certify that Hannah Philips, M. A. Philips, Elizabeth Philips, Lively Philips, C. M. Tarlton & wife Sarah J. Tarlton, Joel Sellers & wife Rachel Sellers (DB21:626)
to said land as heirs at law of Reuben Phillips deceased, and as heirs at law of R. J. Phillips deceased by virtue of a deed of conveyance from Reuben Phillips to R. James Phillips, dated December 1st., 1855, and registered on the registers Office of Anson County, in Deed Book No. 14, on pages 539 and 540. (DB 21:614 & 615)
Joel Sellers, son of Philip Sellers, Jr. and Mary E. Gulledge is my 1st Cousin 4 times removed.

Hi Charlie, Philip Sellers, Jr. and Mary E. Gulledge are my 3rd Great Grandparents. Seems we are 4th cousins. Thanks for all the wonderful information you put together. I'm originally form Anson County. (Moore, Sellers, Huntley, Gulledge, Smith and about a dozen more are ancestors of mine in this area).
