It’s Family Time~The James Hildreth Family

James Hildreth was born about 1827 in Anson County, North Carolina. His parents are unknown at this time.

Emeline Previtte was born about 1837 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.  She was a daughter of William Previtte and Catherine [last name unknown].

James Hildreth and Emeline Previtte were married about 1858 in Anson County, North Carolina.  This is an estimated date based on the birth of their first born son, James Andrew Hildreth on 8 March 1859. Extant marriage records from this time period do not exists.

James Hildreth and Emeline Previtte had the following child:

        i.    James Andrew Hildreth, born 8 Mar 1859; married Martha Ella Boswell, 21 Dec 1882, Anson County, North Carolina; married Dora Ellen Curlee, abt 1910; died 29 Aug 1917, Gulledge Township, Anson, North Carolina.

Sadly, Emeline passed away in March of 1860 from Puerperal Fever, a bacterial infection leaving her new husband, James  and small child James Andrew. A year after Emeline death, War is approaching and our young men are leaving home to protect their families. We will never know why or if James Hildreth sought a deferment or exemption to care for his son but we do know that his enlistment resulted in his death on 21 January 1864.

What became of James Andrew Hildreth between his birth and 1880 is unknown. He did appear in the 1880 Census in the household of Peter Griggs, Anson County, North Carolina and married Martha Ella Boswell on 21 Dec 1882.
