Obituary Monday~William Calhoun Brock

Back in September 2018, I wrote about the Guardianship of William Calhoun Brock. William Calhoun was born in August 1863, a son of Stephen Brock and Nancy Smith. First, his Father died 11 September 1867 when William was a mere 4 years of age. Then at age 15, his Mother, Nancy Smith Brock passed away. His big brother, Irvin Samuel, applied to the Courts and was granted guardianship of William Calhoun Brock. You can read about it here:

By 1894, William Calhoun had left Chesterfield striking out on his own. On 13 November 1894, William  married Lula McGrath in Norfolk, Virginia. I think it safe to assume he arrived in Norfolk much earlier than November 1894 where he met and developed a courtship with Lula McGrath sometime before that marriage date.

William and Lula raised a family of five children; four daughters and a son. William Calhoun died at the age of 57 on 5 December 1920.
