Part 2, Who Was Temple Parr?

We closed in part 1, with a summary of events and looking for Tempie BROCK, who married a PARR about 1875.

A search on Ancestry found two listing, one misspelled, for Tempie Parr.

Tempy Parr is listed in the 1900 census[1]  and shows her married to Samuel Parr for 27 years. She had 9 children of which 6 were living.  Her husband Samuel  Merkerson  Parr was the Son of Abraham N. Parr and Elizabeth Harris.

She is also listed in the 1910 Census[2]. These two censuses and the 1860 census [3]as a young girl, age 4, are the only censuses she has been found in up to this point. If indeed she was married in 1873 as stated on the 1900 Census; she should be listed with Samuel on the 1880 Census.

I have identified the six living children referenced in the 1900 Census over the past years.

  • Benjamin Franklin Parr
  • James Melton Parr
  • Carrie A. Parr married Reuben H. Easler. Carrie Easler obituary states that she had one living siblings, a sister, named Mary Parr SCOTT, still living. Carrie died in 1970.
  • Luetta E. Parr
  • Arrie Lee Parr
  • Mary Parr

Tempie Brock Parr died 20 Nov 1918 in Columbia, Richland County, South Carolina.
