Many people of this community were saddened Tuesday, May 17th when the news was received that Carroll Davis died Monday, May 17th in a hospital at Philadelphia, following an operation for removal of tumor from the brain. Carroll had suffered for many months, been to Charlotte, Columbia, Florence, Charleston, Wadesboro, and other hospitals and finally, upon the advice of the leading surgeons he went to Philadelphia to be operated upon by Dr. Frazier the leading brain surgeon in America. Carroll was 39 years of age at the time of his death. He was the oldest son of Mr. Louis B. Davis, one of the leading citizens of the Snow Hill community. He never married. Carroll was a young man who by sterling worth, honesty of character and integrity of purpose had won for himself a leading position in his community. His kindly and friendly disposition had caused him to number his friends by the scores. The funeral exercises were held at Zoar church Wednesday and the large crowd in attendance proved his popularity, many being present from Wadesboro, Morven, Chesterfield and Cheraw.
