Rebecca Rivers Myers

1 October 1840 – 10 December 1925

Mrs. Rebecca Myers died last Thursday at the home in Marshville of her son, Mr. C. S. Myers, aged 85 years. The funeral was held last Friday by Revs. Snyder, Powell and Myers, and interment was at Mount Olive church. Mrs. Myers was a daughter of the late Lewis Myers <sic> [Rivers] and lived at the old Rivers home in White Store township until a few years ago, when she moved to Marshville to live with her son. Her husband, Wilson Myers, died during the war between the states. She is survived by her son and one brother, Mr. 0. H. Rivers, of White Store township. Mrs. Myers was of a fine type of ante-bellum womanhood, of beautiful character, and was loved and respected by all who knew her. [ The Messenger & Intelligencer, December 17, 1925, page 1]

Rebecca Rivers was born on 1 Oct 1840 in Mt. Croghan, Chesterfield County, South Carolina.^{1 2 3 4}  She was the daughter of Lewis Rivers and Lenora L. Padgett Rivers. She died on 10 Dec 1925 at the age of 85 in Anson County, North Carolina.⁵ She was buried on 11 Dec 1925 at Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in White Store Township, Anson County, North Carolina.^{6 7 8}

Rebecca Rivers and James Wilson Myers were married on 28 Feb 1861 in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.⁹ James Wilson Myers, son of Wilson Shepherd Myers and Clarisa Jane Teal, was born in Aug 1837 in Anson County, North Carolina. ^{10 11} He died in the Civil War on 4 Jul 1863 at the age of 25 in Battle of Monterey Pass, Pennsylvania..^12–13 14

James Wilson Myers and Rebecca Rivers had the following child:
