Sunday’s Obituary~John Byron Brown
John Byron Brown
On September 2, 1930, just as the sun was sinking his gentle rays over the Eastern horizon at Waxlaw, Miss., the soul of John Byron Brown was wafted to that great beyond. He was 61 years old and was born September 21, 1868 in Webster County, near Bluff Springs and joined the Bluff Springs Baptist Church when only 17. Later in life he was married to Miss Ella Ray of Line, Arkansas. The deceased was the son of Wooster [Frederick Woodson] Brown and Sallie Hurst Golden Brown. He leaves a wife and five [six] children, Mrs. Ellis Watson, Delbert, Claud, Hazel, Clara, and Minnie Lee Brown. One sister Mrs. Felix Watson and a number of relatives and friends to mourn his untimely death.
He was a cripple from early childhood. He always had a smile and a cheerful word for everyone, and never once was he ever heard to be bemoan his ill fate. A few days before the end he called his son to his bedside and told him that he was ready to meet the call, and that he preferred death to the suffering.
On September 4th at 4 P. M. he was laid to rest at Mount Zion Cemetery, Rev. J. B. Middleton conducted a funeral service.
Dear ones grieve not, for may we bow in humble submission to the will of our Heavenly Father and say "Thy Will Be Done." A Friend1
John Byron Brown is my 3rd cousin, 3 times removed.
