Sunday’s Obituary~Charles A. Brock


The obituary of Charles A. Brock appeared in the  local newspapers on 24 September 1898.1

Dateline: CHERAW, September 24.
Headlines: Dispenser Charles A. Brock
Summary: Mr. Charles A. Brock, the dispenser for the Cheraw dispensary, dropped dead at 11 o’clock today while in the discharge of his duties. He had been a prominent merchant in Cheraw for years.
Cause of Death: Apoplexy.

Charles A. Brock is my 1st Cousin 3 times removed.

Charles is the son of Alsey Brock and his wife Lucy Morris Brock. He had one brother, Pleasant A. Brock. The brothers were prominent merchants in the town of Cheraw.  Both brothers served in the Civil War. 

Charles A. Brock was married before 1870 to a young lady named Sarah  J. born about 1844, age 26 in 1870 Census. If you know this young lady’s surname, please contact me.
