I spent an enjoyable day yesterday with my cousin and friend Jim Poole at the North Carolina Genealogical Conference Fall Workshop in Durham, North Carolina.
The conference workshop ran from 9AM to 4 PM at the Comfort Suites, Raleigh Durham Airport/RTP.
The welcome and introduction was kicked off right on time with NCGS 1st Vice President and Publication Committee Chair – Victoria P. Scott.
The Guest Speaker for this year’s conference was non other than The Legal Genealogist – Judy G. Russell, JD, CG, CGL
It was a “sold out” event with a room full of eager genealogist and family historian waiting to hear The Legal Genealogist. The theme of this years event was – The Law, Your Ancestor and You.
Four lectures were scheduled and presented by The Legal Genealogist.1
- “From Blackstone to the Statutes at Large—How Knowing the Law Makes Us Better Genealogists.”
- “Don’t Forget the Ladies—A Genealogist’s Guide to Women and the Law.”
- “The Ties that Bond.”
- “Staying Out of Trouble—The Rights and Responsibilities of Today’s Genealogists.”
- The Award For Excellence in Periodical Publishing
- The Award For Excellence in Web Presence, 2 awards
- The Award For Excellence in Publishing, 3 awards
- The Award For Outstanding Contribution to North Carolina Genealogy
- Award of Special Recognition
