Samuel Rivers, age 24, his wife Catherine, age 27 and two children first appears in the 1850 census for Chesterfield County. Also enumerated within the household is an elderly female, Ann Rivers, age 65. This is believed to be the Mother of Samuel Rivers.
Then in 1860, we again find Samuel Rivers in the 1860 Census for Chesterfield County, SC. This time they are located on page 128 (Stamped); Line 14, Dwelling 483, Family 482;
The family composition has changed with the addition of two more children and Grandma has decrease in age by 5 years rather than aging 10 years.
The family now consists of:
- Samuel Rivers, age 30
- Catherine Rivers, Wife, age 34
- Sarah [Flora] A.Rivers, Daughter, age 12
- Mark Rivers, Son, age 10
- John Alfred Rivers, Son, age 8
- Sarah C. Rivers, Daughter, age 2'
- Ann RIVERS, female, [Mother of Samuel], age 60, born in SC.
No record of this family has been found past the 1860 Census. All attempts to identify the parent of Samuel and Catherine have been unsuccessful. What happen to this family after 1860 is unknown. This family is a big mystery.
