Arch G. Douglass moved from Harnett County to Chesterfield County sometime in the early 1870's. By early 1880 he had been here long enough to get acquainted with Anna Jane Odom, daughter of John Dwight Odom and Sarah Jane Freeman, marry her and beget a son, Walter Archie Douglass, age 9.
Sadly, this family would be devastated with the death of Arch G. Douglass, age 38, on 6 May 1889.
