Its-Family-Time2Maria Margaretha Derr, b. 1734 was the daughter of Johan Martin Derr and his wife Maria Gertraut Eckard.
On 11 December 1753 Maria Margaretha Derr and Jacob Detweiler were United in matrimony at the home of her parents, Martin Derr. 1

Jacob Dettweiler, single, up to this time unprofessing, but intends to have himself baptized, age 36 years, son of Jacob Dettweiler and Frene, both Mennonites from New Goshenhoppen, m. in Martin Der’s house 11 Dec.1753, Maria Margaretha Der, Lutheran, single, daughter of Martin Der. Children:
1.      Anna Margaretha, b. 20 Jan. 1755, bp. 30 Mar.1755
Sp. Henrich Kepler (Keppel) and wife Greta Elisabetha.

Jacob Detweiler and Maria Margaretha Derr had the following children:
i. Anna Margaretha Detweiler, born 20 Jan 1755, Upper Hanover, Montgomery, Pennsylvania; married Benjamin Sell, 30 Jul 1774, Philadelphia, Montgomery, Pennsylvania; died Jan 1788, Upper Hanover, Montgomery, Pennsylvania.
ii. Johann Jacob Detweiler Jr. was born on 5 Sep 1756 in Upper Hanover, Montgomery, Pennsylvania,. He died 25 Feb., 1758, buried in the burial place of his grandfather Martin Deer.
iii. Jacob Detweiler, born 6 Apr 1759, Upper Hanover, Montgomery, Pennsylvania; married Catharine Brey; died Feb 1786, Upper Hanover, Montgomery, Pennsylvania.
iv. Elisabeth Barbara Detweiler, born 5 Jan 1763, Upper Hanover, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; married Nicholas Steyer; died 5 Mar 1826, Red Hill, Upper Hanover, Montgomery, Pennsylvania.
v. John Detweiler, born 24 Nov 1766, Upper Hanover, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; married Magdalena Gucker, 1789; died 5 May 1816, Red Hill, Upper Hanover, Montgomery, Pennsylvania.


Jacob Detweiler, husband, father and grandfather, died on 28 Jan 1789. Orphan Court records, at the time of his death, show that only two of his five children and his wife survived him and are listed as heirs a-at-law. 2

Maria Margaretha Derr Detweiler, the widow of Jacob Detweiler, passed away on 5 May 1816 in Red Hill, Upper Hanover, Montgomery, Pennsylvania.

Maria Margaretha Derr Detweiler is my 5th Great Grand Aunt.
