Mary Violet Craig- Charles Laudie Hunley Marriage
CRAIG-HUNLEY MARRIAGESpecial to The State.
Chesterfield. July 18. –Telegrams were received here Thursday night telling of the marriage in Hendersonville, N.C., yesterday of Miss Mary Craig and C. L. Hunley, both of Chesterfield. The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Craig of this town and Mr. Hunley is a rising young attorney. They will spend several weeks in the mountains of western North Carolina and will be at home to their friends after August 15 in their bungalow on west Main street.
Mary Violet Craig and Charles Laudie Hunley were united in marriage on 16 July 1914 in Hendersonville, North Carolina.

The couple must have significant finances if they took a honeymoon of several weeks. It is always nice to find social items like this.
ReplyDeleteThey were my grandparents. They eloped! Charles was an attorney but was not viewed by some as being of the same social status as my grandmother. So, they came home married, lived happily, and had 7 children!
