Today’s treasure is the 1833 Marriage License of Hiram Pyle and Catherine Dry. Catherine Dry was borne 5 November 1817 in Perry County, Illinois. Catherine was a daughter of Daniel Dry and Barbara Lipe. Her parents roots were in Cabarrus County, North Carolina. Family lore is that Daniel's parents, Owen & Eve Dry did not approve of the marriage resulting in an estranged relationship. Shortly after their marriage, Daniel and Barbara moved to Perry County, Illinois. Their first borne, a son, died at age 2 and in the same year of his death their daughter Catherine was borne.
At age 15, Catherine married Hiram Pyle on 18 April 1833 in Perry County, Illinois. Hiram was born Feb 1810 in Christian County, Kentucky, a son of John and Mary (Wells) Pyle.

Hiram and Catherine had seven children; 2 daughters and 5 sons. Hiram Pyle died 28 October 1876. Two years and 3 months later, Catherine (Dry) Pyle passed away on 10 January 1879. Hiram, Catherine and other family members are entombed in the McElvain Cemetery, Du Quoin, Perry County, Illinois
Catherine (Dry) Pyle is my 2nd Cousin 4X Removed.
