Between Oct 1875 and June 1880, Susannah passed away. Oct 1875 is the date of the above deed and Suzannah was present; June 13, 1880 is the enumeration date of the 1880 Censes and John has remarried and his new wife is listed as Mary, age 28. Such a young age for a man, age 81 and certainly one who can care for him. I wonder if this made null and void the clause within the above Land Deed.

After the birth of two additional Children with wife Mary, John H. Wadsworth died after the 1880 Census was enumerated. No tombstone has been found for John H. Wadsworth or his wife, Susannah (Davis) Wadsworth in Chesterfield County, South Carolina.

Susannah (Davis) Wadsworth is my 3rd Great Grand Aunt.

  1. This is a wonderful document. The section about his grandson taking care of them is very interesting. You are terrific at unearthing genealogical resources.
