The Beginning of Our “Brock” Lineage in America

Our Brock lineage has been traced back to a Johan Valentine Brock and his family that immigrated from Germany in 1751.

Johan Valentine Brock brought his wife, a daughter and a son with him when he came to Pennsylvania in 1751. Vallentin [sic] BROCK arrived in Philadelphia onboard the ship Queen of Denmark, George Parish commander, from Rotterdam via Cowes, England, and took the oaths with the other 98 adult [age 16 and older]male passengers at the  [old] courthouse on Friday 4 Oct 1751. Vallentin did not sign his own name to the oath, but simply put his X next to what someone else wrote for him.

The Family composition was:

Valentin Brock, b. abt 1712 in Oberhochstadt, Germany;

 Anna Margretha Lischer Brock, Wife

Eva Barbara Brock, daughter

Valentin Brock, son.

Johan Valentine Brock was baptized 2 March 1712

Marriage; on 1 May 1742, Johan Valentine Brock and Anna Margretha Lischer were married  Oberhochstadt, Bayern Germany

Eva Barbara Brock, daughter, was born 27 July 1746 in Altdorf, Pfalz, Germany; she passed away January 1752 in Berks, Pennsylvania.

Valentin Brock, his son, was born 13 September 1749 also is Germany. It is this son, whom I believe died on 15 December 1847 in Chesterfield County, South Carolina at the age of 98. In some records he is listed as James Valentine Brock.

2nd Marriage

Anna Margretha Lischer Brock died before 1760 in Berks, Pennsylvania and Johan Valentine Brock married Susanna Blaester on 11 November 1760 in Germantown, Lancaster County, PA. marriage performed by Reverend Henry Wm. Stoy.

Valentíne Brock was a Loyalists in the Southern Campaign of the Revolutionary War.

Their first born, another Valentine, arrived in 1761.  Below is listed the 1790-1800 Census's for Richmond County, NC and Chesterfield an adjacent county across the State line in South Carolina.

It is not known when The Brocks moved to Richmond County, NC but it was before the Revolutionary War. Valentine and Susanna‘s death dates are unknown.

There a Land Deed in Anson County, NC between Valentine Brock and Jane McKay dated 24 October 1809. I believe this Valentine Brock is the 1st born son of Valentine and Susanna Blaester. His spouse is unknown and he is believed to have died about 1822.

Johan Valentine Brock is my 5th Great Grandfather.
