Jeremiah Gulledge married Phoebe Sellers about the year 1816. Phoebe Sellers, born about 1787, was a daughter of Hardy Sellers and Mary Cook of Chesterfield County, South Carolina. Jeremiah and Phoebe made their home in Anson County and raised a family of eight consisting of 4 daughters and 4 sons. At the time of Jeremiah death he owned a large tract of land that was divided among his 8 children all named within the land deed. Each child received 71 1/2 acres plus in some cases money to make the estate equally balanced for each heir-at-law. The LAND DEED, Division of the Lands of Jeremiah Gulledge can be found in Deed Book 14, pages 273-275, Register of Deeds, Wadesboro, Anson County, North Carolina,
Phoebe (Sellers) Gulledge died almost 10 years before the passing of Jeremiah. Her exact death date is unknown. She most probably died due to child birth at the time that Harriet Elizabeth was born. She was alive on 8 August 1833 and died before 14 Jul 1834. The first date is the day her daughter Harriet Elizabeth Gulledge was born (8 August 1833); the second date is the day Hardy Sellers wrote his Last Will & Testament (14 July 1834) and on that date he stated, in his Will, that his daughter Phoebe was deceased and left 3 surviving children.

After the death of Phoebe (Sellers) Gulledge in 1833/1834 Jeremiah had two additional children, Jeremiah Gulledge, born 1837 and Sarah Ann Gulledge borne 1838. The Mother of these two children are unknown.
