In July 1844 James Gathings died in Union County, North Carolina. His wife Jane and son Sampson Gathings were named executor's of the Estate. Sampson Gathings at this time was living in Monroe County, Mississippi. Thus we have a 175 pages estate settlement (Probate Folder #240) for James Gathings on file in Monroe County, Mississippi.
