Obituary Sunday~John Daniel Teal
J. D. TEAL
Special to The State.
Chesterfield, April 9.—J. D. Teal died on Wednesday and was buried on Thursday at Pine Grove church with Masonic honors. He was in his 59th years. 1
John Daniel Teal was born 5 Dec 1852, a son of Benjamin Franklin Teal and Eliza A. Davis. He was the sixth of ten (10) children; three sisters and 6 brothers.
John married Sarah Ann “Susie” Wadsworth, daughter of Lewis H. Wadsworth and Mary Ann Freeman. They were married about 1871. The 1900 census shows that they had been married 28 years.2
This same census shows that John and Susie had 9 children, all living. They had 4 sons, James Jacob, Jerome, Robert and 5 daughters, Ida, Ada, Mary, Ella and Alice.
John Daniel died on 5 April 1911 at the age of 58. This seems quite suddenly and unexpected. His wife Susie died on 9 January 1936 at the age of 81. They both are buried at Pine Grove Church Cemetery.3
John Daniel Teal is my 2nd cousin 3 times removed.
