Amanuensis Monday~Lease of 30 Acres, Wm. J. Purvis to Elijah Wallace

Amanuensis Monday is a genealogy blogging theme. It was started by John Newmark who writes the TransylvanianDutch blog.
His definition of Amanuensis is:
Amanuensis: A person employed to write what another dictates or to copy what has been written by another.

Today’s subject is a Chesterfield County Land Deed, Lease of 30 Acres, Wm. J. Purvis to Elijah Wallace.

I suspect that the Witness to the execution of this Lease was not signed because it contains an error.  Wm. J. Purvis is leasing 30 acres of land and the statement reads that “Personally appeared before me C. E. Braswell and made oath that he saw the within named Wm. T. Hurst and Elijah Wallace”

Wm T. Hurst has nothing to do with this lease.

William James Purvis is my Great Grandfather.
