Request for Final Discharge of Guardianship~Martha Watson

Each week, on Sunday, I will select an Estate Folder from the Estate files of Chesterfield County and discuss its contents. No known estates exist for the period before the Civil War. They were destroyed by the burning of the Courthouse. There are a few “Equity Records” in the State Archives. Do not overlook this valuable resource if you are looking for ancestors in Chesterfield County, South Carolina.

Martha Watson Guardianship

Transcription:
State of South Carolina}
Chesterfield County}
To W. J. Hanna Judge of Probate
The petition of L. A. Watson Respectfully shows that he is the legally appointed Guardian of Martha Watson. That the said Martha Watson is now of the age of twenty one years that is to say about the age of Twenty two years. That he has fully settled the Estate of the said Martha Watson and is desirous of obtaining a final discharge for which purpose he files herewith on account of his actings and doings as said Guardian marked “Exhibit “A” and respectfully ask that the same may be taken as part of this Petition and referred to when necessary. Whereupon your Petitioner prays that an order of final discharge may be granted him and your Petitioner will ever pray +c.

I have not determined who the parents of this Martha Watson are. For a  while I thought she was the daughter of Michael and Jane Watson but now I am not so sure.
