Alfred L. Rivers was born about 1852 to John B. Rivers and Eliza Rivers. This is based on his age in the 1860 census; the 1900 Census claims he was born in Unk 1850 and his tombstone has the years 1846 engraved. He was a framer.
On 18 March 1877 he married Isabella Eddins, age 17, daughters of Rev. Andrew Jackson Eddins and Dorothy ‘Dollie’ Thurman.
Between 1877 and 1893, Alfred and Isabella would raise a family of six children; four sons and two daughters.

He died in Jun 1883 at the age of 0 and was buried in Chesterfield, Chesterfield, South Carolina.

Isabella passed away on 3 December 1909 and Alfred died on 24 December 1911. As stated on their FindAGrave Memorial
“They were members of Pine Grove Baptist Church where they gave liberally of their time and money and where they are both buried in the cemetery.
They were honest and upright citizens who were interested in the forward movements of their town and community.”
Alfred L Rivers is my 1st Cousin 4 times removed.
