On 2 June 1869 the Clerk in the Register of Deeds for Stanly County, North Carolina issued a marriage license to one Levi Tucker and Perline Brooks.
So before we go any further I’m going to name all the parties mentioned on this License.
Levi Tucker –Groom
George Tucker + Sarah Morton – Parents of Groom
Perline Brooks – Bride
Joshua Brooks + Polly Huneycutt – Parents of Bride
These are the names as listed in the top 3/4 of the embedded marriage licensee issued in June 1869.
As indicated by the bottom 2/3 of this licensee the couple were married on 6 June 1869 by John Brooks, JP..

STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA Stanly County.
THIS CERTIFIES THAT Levi Alman son of George Tucker and Sarah Alman, and Sarah Brooks daughter of Joshua Brooks and Perlina Brooks were, by me, united in the Bonds of Matrimony on the 6 day of June A. D. 1869, conformably to the ordinance of God and the Laws of the State.
s/John Brooks, JP
If you pay real close attention to this marriage certificate by John Brooks it would seem that he had one too many sips before arriving to perform this ceremony.
In this document the Justice of the Peace states that Levi Alman married Sarah Brooks and that Perlina is the bride’s mother. All the information for the bride is entered erroneously by the JP on the marriage document. The only thing that is correct is the name of her Father.
Also Levi is no longer a Tucker but now he is an Alman/Allman. There is an explanation for some of this while the completion of the marriage licensee is just pure complacency.
Levi Tucker, aka Levi Allman was the son of Sarah Allman. His father was most likely George Tucker but George Tucker and Sarah Allman were never married.
