McCarroll Sellers first appears in the 1850 Census with his wife Louisa and 6 children in the 1850 Census for Chesterfield County.
The McCarroll Sellers family is enumerated in every census from 1850-1880 for Chesterfield County.
On 17 July 2016, I believe I made a major finding concerning this family while browsing through the Chesterfield County Probate record.
I believe Probate Record #454, Flora Sellers is the mother of two sons names within the probate record:
- McCarroll Sellars/Sellers
- Joseph B. Sellars/Sellers
Transcription:
By amt paid E. S. Davis afc 10.21
‘’ “ “ J. B. Sellers in full
of my distributive share of Estate 5.00
“ “ paid McCarroll Sellers his
distributive share of Estate 5.00
“ “ paid State & county taxes 6.49
This is the first clue and the only known document where these two men are named as distributees in an Estate. Clearly this probate folder indicates that Flora Sellers could be the mother of both McCarroll and J. B. Sellers.
I believe half of this puzzle who been found and documented. Now if we could determine the male Sellers that Flora McNair married then the puzzle would be complete.
Calvin B. McNair requested Letters of Administration from the Probate Courts to administer the Estate of Flora Sellers. He did this because Flora Sellers nee McNair was his sister.
