Dr. Rowland Deese, 65, died in a local sanatorium today at 2:05 p.m. after a critical illness lasting since Monday with euremic poisoning and angina pactoris.
Funeral services will be conducted from the home Friday at 10 A.M. by Dr. C. H. Durham, pastor of the First Baptist church, of which deceased was a member and internment will be made in Meadow Brook Cemetery.
Born in Lumberton, December 24, 1870. Dr. Deese was a son of the late Robert C. and Julia Deese and lived all his life here. He had been a practicing veterinary physician for 40 years.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Frances Hall Deese, a son, Edgar, of Greenville, N.C.; 2 brothers, Durham and O. C. Deese, both of Lumberton; 3 sisters, Mrs. J. M. Jones, Misses Ellen and Mary Deese, all of Lumberton.1 [The Robesonian, 2 July 1936]
Dr. John Rowland Deese passed away on 2 July 1936 in Lumberton, Roberson County, North Carolina. He was born 24 December 1872, a son of Robert Clinton Deese and Julia Best. His grandparents were James Deese and Alice Bethea who lived long enough to welcome his arrival and his four brothers.
Rowland Deese married Lena Frances Hall on 10 May 1898 in Roberson County, North Carolina. Frances was born 30 June 1881, a daughter of Mrs. M. J. Hall.
Rowland and Frances had five children; all sons.
Dr. Rowland Deese died 2 July 1936, His wife, Lena Frances (Hall) Deese passed away on 31 Dec 1955.
Dr. John Rowland Deese is my 2nd Cousin twice removed.
